There’s a question I’m asked quite a bit when hanging with my entrepreneur friends and it’s this: is it possible for me to take maternity leave?

It’s not a surprising question since many I speak to – and me included – consider our business our baby. And, just like our babies, having a business demands your full attention at almost all hours of the day or night.

Then, of course, there’s the issue of money.

Many get into the entrepreneur game with the intention to create a more flexible lifestyle – both in terms of creating a better balance between work and life as well as in terms of financial freedom.

Yet, the truth is, that’s not always easy to attain.

It takes hard work, a lot of energy and a heavy dose of creativity, and sometimes, long hours to keep money coming into the business. With such a reality, it seems almost impossible to take several weeks – let alone several months – off from your business to spend time with your newborn baby.

But it’s not impossible – nothing rarely is.

That’s why Jan sent me an email asking how he and his wife can begin to prepare their business for the baby they hope to have one day. To answer his question, this week’s episode of The Crazy Good Life offers four strategies to get your baby and your life ready for baby.

While my answer is specifically geared to entrepreneurs, I do believe the strategies I suggest can be helpful to other expecting mamas. If you’re working for a small business or other company that doesn’t have a maternity leave policy or you know you won’t have access to benefits that provide for paid leave, please take a watch of this episode, so you, too, can prepare your life for baby.

Once you’ve had a chance to watch the video, I’d love to hear from you. If you run your own business, what did you do to prepare your business for baby?

Let us know in the comments below.

As I share in the video, if you have a question you’d like me to answer, add it to the comments below, send me an email or reach me on social (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram).

Much love,
